Late Summer 2024 Intermediate Wheel: Thrown & Altered (July - Aug)

This six week class is perfect for students that are looking to push their wheel thrown pieces beyond simple forms and also push themselves creatively. Students start by creating pieces on the wheel, and then over the course of six weeks will manipulate the forms, learning the ideal consistency for successful altering. Some of the techniques taught in class are darting, throwing in two parts (goblets, tall forms), throwing a slab on the wheel to make an oval form.
To register for this class you should be working at an Intermediate Level. You should be able to cone centre up to 3lbs of clay confidently and throw cylinders that are twice as tall as it is wide.
Your teacher will gauge the groups ability and suggest appropriate projects.
A variety of decorating techniques will be explored and the effective use of multiple glazes. Each session varies from group to group. We are always open to student suggestions and requests for projects. Come with an open mind and give something new a try!
Our classes are intended for adults and youth aged 15+.
Please note that 10kg bag of clay and tools will be provided. Extra clay will be available for purchase.We do not provide aprons, please bring one or dress in clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Please note that all materials and tools are included in the price.
The class duration is 2.5 hour, clean up is included in this time.
